Instructor Andrea – OMAC Burlington Manager

At the age of 6, Instructor Andrea was training at an academy for Jazz dance. It’s true that the Tae Kwon Do school across the street from her academy caught her and her father’s attention. Shortly after her first recital, Instructor Andrea made the decision to quit Jazz dance and her father signed her up to train in ITF style Tae Kwon Do.

Instructor Andrea began her training at Lee Sukhi Tae Kwon Do in Hamilton, Ontario under Master Walter Zdeb. Instructor Andrea trained for 6 years at Lee Sukhi, where she experienced an intense and regimented style of martial arts. Her experience at Lee Sukhi helped to shape her into a student who demanded perfection from her own performance, particularly in Poomsae. Within these 6 years, Instructor Andrea competed in a number of local tournaments, where she regularly placed 1st in Poomsae. After 6 years in ITF style Tae Kwon Do, Instructor Andrea began training in WTF style at JSC Tae Kwon Do in Hamilton, Ontario under Master Park.

Instructor Andrea experienced many successes in her martial arts training, but like any student, she also experienced many doubts and apprehensions. Instructor Andrea felt that she did not want to continue training in Tae Kwon Do, especially in her years with the ITF School – training was hard, intense, and consistently challenging. Instructor Andrea often asked her parents for permission to quit training in the martial arts. Her father motivated her to continue training and kept her dedicated to achieve the black belt level.

At the age of 13, Instructor Andrea achieved her 1st Poom Black Belt from JSC Tae Kwon Do. After this achievement, Instructor Andrea quit training in the martial arts and believed that it would never be part of her life again. After an 8 year absence from martial arts training, she returned to the world of Tae Kwon Do with a fresh perspective of the gift of martial arts.

Through humble beginnings with OMAC, Instructor Andrea developed a passion for connecting with students in the classroom. She found her purpose in leading students to push their boundaries and to break self-set limitations through the practice of martial arts. Instructor Andrea has a passion for healing through natural practice, believing that Tae Kwon Do is a reflection of and an oneness with nature. Instructor Andrea has certifications in the Energy Practice of Reiki Healing as well as knowledge of wild medicinal plants. Instructor Andrea enjoys teaching students about connecting with nature through learning building relationships with plants as a way to strengthen the martial arts spirit.

Instructor Andrea continues to be a dedicated member of the OMAC community where she believes that presence and personal power can make a world of a difference.
